چکیده

In this work we introduce two experimental proposals that could shed some light upon the inertial properties of intrinsic spin. In particular we will analyze the role that the gravitomagnetic field of the Earth could have on a quantum system with spin 1/2. We will deduce the expression for Rabi transitions, which depend, explicitly, on the coupling between the spin of the quantum system and the gravitomagnetic field of the Earth. Afterwards, the continuous measurement of the energy of the spin 1/2 system is considered, and an expression for the emerging quantum Zeno effect is obtained. Thus, it will be proved that gravitomagnetism, in connection with spin 1/2 systems, could induce not only Rabi transitions but also a quantum Zeno effect. email: [email protected] This essay received an “honorable mention” in the Annual Essay Competition of the Gravity Research Foundation for the year 2000 — Ed. 1

Zeno effect for quantum computation and control.

It is well known that the quantum Zeno effect can protect specific quantum states from decoherence by using projective measurements. Here we combine the theory of weak measurements with stabilizer quantum error correction and detection codes. We derive rigorous performance bounds which demonstrate that the Zeno effect can be used to protect appropriately encoded arbitrary states to arbitrary ac...

Correcting quantum errors with the Zeno effect

In order to reduce errors, error correction codes need to be implemented fast. They can correct the errors corresponding to the first few orders in the Taylor expansion of the time evolution operator corresponding to the Hamiltonian of the interaction with the environment. If implemented fast enough, the zeroth order error predominates and the dominant effect is of error prevention by measureme...

Quantum Error Correction in the Zeno Regime

In order to reduce errors, error correction codes (ECCs) need to be implemented fast. Quantum Zeno and anti-Zeno effects by indirect measurement with finite errors

We study the quantum Zeno effect and the anti-Zeno effect in the case of ‘‘indirect’’ measurements, where a measuring apparatus does not act directly on an unstable system, for a realistic model with finite errors in the measurement. A general and simple formula for the decay rate of the unstable system under measurement is derived. In the case of a Lorentzian form factor, we calculate the full...

Lc Oscillating Circuit as the Simple Classical Analog of the Quantum Zeno Effect

In this work a simple classical analog of the quantum Zeno effect is suggested. As it is well known, in the quantum mechanics, in the limit of the infinite series of alternative short dynamical evolution and measurement, an unstable quantum system will never decay, that is called quantum Zeno effect. Here an ideal (without resistance), classical LC oscillating circuit with quick switch ON-OFF a...
